2000 X5 head unit

Hey fellow Mastercrafters,

I've got a 00' or 01 X5 (haven't unwrapped it yet) andI know the stock Clarion M5475 died last year. Any recommendations on a plug and play that will hook up with the old drivers side remote? I cant find an exact replacement and don't want to pay the marina $1K to find it for me.

Any help is appreciated!!!

JD

Any of the new Clarion decks (M303, M502) can work with the factory remote if you get the 6-pin to 8-pin converter cable: http://www.clarion.com/ca/en/product...499537066.html Check here and eBay, they pop up every once in a while. Personally, I replaced the remote with an MW2 remote, and it fits in the factory location.

I have a M5475 if you're interested in it, but it's old technology and you'd be better served getting one of the newer decks.

nice. The 502 is a great unit.

Just fro reference when someone searches. The M475 is a direct drop in as well with no need for the adapter.

Issues with iPhone 5

Hi again,

Thanks for all the help. Did you have any issues hooking up your phone to the unit? I'm trying to hook up an iphone 5s through the USB port and when I plug it in I can see that it recognizes a USB device is plugged in however it's not allowing me to play music. I've tried going through the instruction manuel and haven't had any luck figuring out how to make it work. One other note, unlike when I plug in my phone to a computer or wall charge, it doesn't show the little lightning bolt that shows its charging. I'm scratching my head on this one because obviously the head unit is recognizing that a USB has been plugged in.

Thanks for any help!

Jordan

Are you using an Apple lighting cable? I plug into the USB via the extended cable and it does detect it, but it says "File Read" for a while, so I will usually revert to Bluetooth and just let the cable do the charging.

Yes

Yeah, I was using the lightning cable and getting the File Read as well. I'll just have to pair it with the blue tooth and use the cable for charging like you are.

I haven't even tried pairing yet, is it a pain or pretty easy?

Thanks again!

same setup

I am in the same situation, my M5475 died on me and I am wanting to keep my remote if possible, have you had any problems using your stock remote with the new head unit after you bought the 8 pin to 6 pin adaptor? I am looking at getting the M303 which is the cd player version of yours. Thanks

8 pin to 6 pin

Hey, everything on the old remote seems to be working just fine with the 8 pin to 6 pin adapter. I did get the blue tooth running this weekend as well and it works great.

The one thing I haven't figured out yet is why my USB cord from the head unit isn't charging my phone. I haven't dove in too far but I'm curious if theres a setting I need to change. I know it's not the cord because I tried it with my normal cord and didn't have any luck.

Best of luck to you!
