Thanks, didn't know that, as we have 4 94 models and a 96 SD Prostar in our ski club, rest are Malibu's and Nautique's. Come to think about it, a couple of 2002 and 2004 Malibu's are starting to have thread issues at the seams - maybe bad years all around.

the EPA in it's infinite wisdom made requirements that the vinyl makers could not meet with the old recipes, so they made changes but as with chrome, diesels etc... they just did not have the time to meet the requirements and did not know how the long term changes would effect the build of the vinyl. Yes every manufacture had the same problem, I would assume there are only a couple of vinyl processors, just like carpet there are 30 "brands" but there are only 4 actual producers....and it is probably all being made in china now anyway...

I used viper and couldn't be happier with their work. I had mine done in November and they had the skins back to me in two weeks.

I removed the the old skins and installed the new ones myself. It is time consuming, but not difficult. Buy a cheap clothes steamer on craigslist or a thrift store. Makes stretching the vinyl much easier. Don't even consider doing the job without pneumatic upholstery stapler.

Agreed - Early 2000 had MC under new management and the vinyl was horrible. Luckily, those people and the vinyl have both been replaced and upgraded.

Are you in Middle TN? If so, Joe at Canvas Unique has done two boats for me with very reasonable prices. He is not fast, but the vinyl was a much better quality than what MC had originally installed.

He may still be an option if you wait until winter. Just a thought!

I did mine myself but had a compressor etc and a lot of patience. Turned out great imho.

I had local prices of around 3k and 4200 install I believe. Viper came in at 1900 but ended up at around 2300 or 2400 after upgraded material, bow filler, bow filler cushion, etc

Here is the thread. Some useful info on install. Also do a search. Alot of people have done their own. It did however prob take me 40-80 hours between tear down, cleaning, upholstery, and reinstall

Heres the one I did myself (install)

That is gorgeous. I'm really jealous of that color scheme!

Corey's boat is my boats baby sister. And Viper's price was better than the other quotes I got throughout TN by about $1000.
