Gen2 Surf System Package

I just purchased a 2013 X25 from my local dealer because they offer trade-up incentives every year. They had a 2013 in stock that was very similar to my 2012 with the exception of the Gen2 upfit. I was told that the 2013's could easily be converted to comply with all of the necessities of the Gen2 system. I purchased two sacs and had them plumbed in by the dealer. I already have the first generation surf tabs and center plate (with new actuators). I am now being told that I need to spend $5,500 to get the tabs themselves and a "code" to upgrade the software. I'm fairly certain that the "code" is simply adjustments to the timing times of the ballast fills. Is anyone else running into this problem? Does everyone else think its fair to spend $5,500 for two tabs that are part of a Gen2 "package deal?"

**UPDATE**
My dealership has a Gen 2 kit for a 2014 but they are being told that there is a completely different kit that they must get for a 2013. Does anyone know if this is accurate? Even the guys at the shop didn't know what a "retrofit kit" would contain that an "upfit kit" doesn't contain. We are trying to figure out if this can be installed on my 13 or if we have to try another approach. Feedback?

From what I understand the software isn't just for bags, It tells how far to deploy tabs and ability to switch sides with the flick of the screen.

Yes, I do think $5,500 for larger tabs, new actuators, sacks and a software update is a lot of money. But, there isn't much you can do about it. I would think MC has exclusive rights to the GEN2 tabs and good luck on getting anyone to part with the software update.

You're caught between your wallet and a surf wake that may or may not be worth $5,500 bucks.

I believe you're right. I guess I'll just get the dealer to buy back the 13 and go ahead and get a 14. Sort of a shame bc I really loved the boat but such is life.

On the other Hand.....$5500 is a cheap way to make your 13 a 14??? Unless you were not getting a very good break on it.....

I believe that with the loyal customer discount the 13 and 14 were approximately $5k apart in price (which all makes sense now) however at the moment I was told that upgrading the 13 to accommodate the Gen2 was fairly inexpensive and easy. I wasn't sure at the time what the upfit entailed but I certainly didn't think it would be $5,500. I guess the resolution is pretty simple, I just need to take advantage of the MasterCraft money back guarantee and buy a 14 instead.

^ there isn't a money back guarantee on a 2013...... Especially without gen2.

Well I guess my dealership misinformed me. That will just have to be something that I address with them. Thanks for the feedback.

The $5,500 is for all 3 tabs, actuators, sacs, new platform spacers, labor and Gel work needed because of the tab position change.

If you already have all 3 tabs & sacs, the price is much less.

All you need is the new tabs, software update and gel work. I's about a 4 hour job, plus the Gel work, which most dealers farm out.

I'm not going to quote the price I received, but far less than $5,500. I'm still holding out on the upgrade, we have our X25 pretty well dialed in. If it ain't broke, why mess with it. At this point, I would rather spend the money on the Fusion stereo and remotes.
