Just want to comment about the 5.0 and it's ability. I'm 6'5" and around 250lbs and was pleasantly surprised by the 5.0 with it's power for slalom. It's more than sufficient for that hull. And yes, I think BrianM is right with the output being 275hp.

Keep checking your mailbox for that royalty check...I'm sure it'll be in there soon. ;-)

I should also mention that I've got lots of friends and family all over the country so long-distance delivery is not out of the question...especially to the midwest.

question - where did the 5.0 come from - I don't see ever listed in any MC literature? Special build?

Base engine in the Sportstar in 1998. Remember this was the 'entry' boat for MC in 1998 however the carryover hull from the previous years Prostar was arguably a better skiing boat than the all new Prostar for 1998.

I love how no one believes that MC had a 5.0 :-)

Check out this thread, it's everything you'd ever want to know about the SportStar and it's kin. I found it to be a great resource.

It's not a matter of not believing - but when you download the 98,99 user manuals they don't list it. No biggy.. just curious.
