Pole Extension

I've got a 1988 Tri Star open bow.

We like pulling tubes / wake boarders from the pole, but it makes the rear seats un-usable.

I would like to extend the height of my pole (whoa, that came out wrong), but don't need 6' like the Sky High or Pylon.

And, I don't like the straps that hold those in place.

Is there someone that makes something that brings the pole up 2-3' that simply slips over the current stock center pole?

We aren't looking to provide a better / higher tow position for any performance enhancements, it's purely about increasing the usability of the rear seats when pulling.

The rear tow eyelet is just too low for most applications, even tubing.

You might try a piece of aluminum tubing with a slightly larger I.D. than the O.D. of the pylon. Get it the height you would like and see if you can get a local machine shop make a cap similar to what you now have. Make sure you use a plastic sleeve to slip over the pylon first so you won't scratch it all up. You can slice the plastic the long way for easier removal. Good luck.
Welcome to the site, put some pictures up. We love to see our fellow TTers boats.

If you're keeping the boat why not invest in a tower? In the long run you'll be happy to have racks for your boards and a tall tow point for wakeboarding.

I don't think a tower on an 88 Tristar looks very nice. If it were me the extended skylon dealo is the way to go if you want a higher pull point.

Sure but you don't want to pull tubes off that.

Agreed.

I don't know of anyone that makes a longer solid ski pole.

Sorry, OP, I didn't see where you had already said you didn't want a skilon kind of thing.

Correct Craft offered a longer pylon in '99.

A person would have to be careful adding length without support. The extra leverage could cause some damage. Recreational skiing wouldn't cause a problem.

Even with an extended pylon, I don't think I'd put anyone in the backseat. The rope would be barely over their head; any slack would still loop the rope around their necks.

Does your boat have a stern pulling eye? We always use that in my friends PS190 when we need to put people behind the pylon when pulling.
