Mastercraft Fuel Injection Question

Is there a difference between the EFI systems used in the '93 / '94 / '95 Prostar 190? I was looking at a potential '94 Prostar project with Fuel Injection (not the LT1) and a Powerslot transmission. Trying to learn as much as I can about that engine and the EFI system. The engine has about 800hrs. Though no doubt surrounded by 4ft of snow I'll be driving to see the boat next week.

Thank in advance for your input.

I believe the answer is no. These motors have the MEFI 1 system and there is one calibration file for the 5.7 TBI. I do believe they moved the ECU location around tho.

93 was only LT 1.(multi port injection)
TBI(Throttle body injection) for 94-95 was the same.In fact,i think the TBI remained the same for a couples more years on the Predator engine(?).
Got a 96 EFI (both TBI and LT 1) manual if you ever need info.

They had a lot of different cal files, based on the hull shape and overall size (weight) of the boats. They also did updates after release, when they found that fuel changes, high altitude/temperature or other factors warranted them. MC was the first to have different files for each model, rather than using a generic calibration for each series, or model year.

When I sent a spare MEF1 ECU to me tested for my 1995 - they told me they only had one file for the 5.7 TBI - maybe they only have one file --- on file - or they were feeding me bad info.

MEFI 1 had an external knock sensor module and the relay outputs were positive voltage, rather than grounding. If it becomes necessary to change to a later ECM, inverting the relay output is easy and only requires one additional relay for each of the exiting ones. Since these relays are extremely reliable, it shouldn't be seen as a chance for reliability issues, unless the person doing the work can't make reliable connections. The location of the ECM and MAP sensor were changed later, too. One thing to look at is the rubber line connecting the MAP sensor to the intake- over time, the rubber can become dry and brittle, causing high idle, hunting for the correct RPM when the throttle isn't moved and if the line collects any liquid, performance can be sluggish on acceleration.

Maybe for your model- they told us that they had a separate file for each model, depending on how it was outfitted- if it had Power Slot vs 1:1, they used a different file.

They had a different checksum for each and that's the easy way to find out if the ECM has the correct file. IIRC, when I did the last recal in 2000, the folder had about 40 different files.

Cool - so glad you are on this forum... that makes sense.

Here is the link to the operators manuals:

http://www.indmar.com/mobile/service...s-manuals.aspx

Some where there was a PDF service manual too. I think it came from indmars web site too but I don't see them listed now.
