Several, and haven't forgotten to have it securely in place in this boat so far.

Yea, I had the lanyard happen to me about the 3rd time I went out in my first boat. We stopped to get some ice cream out in the middle of the lake. We have a couple than run a floating snack shop on a pontoon. Boat just kept trying to turn over. Luckily one of the game wardens pulled up and the first thing he said was "check your lanyard". Felt pretty dumb, but glad I didn't have to get a tow.

Happened to me when I was trying to sell a boat, I cranked and cranked it and it would not start. Got a battery charger and kept cranking, finally noticed it (then sold the boat)
