Another amp question

I have an older Memphis MCH600 5 channel that blew a channel. Each of the 4 A/B channels was powering 2 JL 6.5 - PLENTY loud. Sub channel was class D.

I know JL is hard to beat, but seems the newer MHD class is recommended more than the aging M Class. And that's a grand, which I really don't want to spend, as the wetsounds would be a grand (or more) as well.

Anyone had luck with the Alpine 5 channel or Fusion? Those are in the $500 range.

I had an alpine PDX in my 15 and it was great! id say no to fusion. they're small and compact, just may not be as efficient as a JL MHD.

Why not buy a "gently" used JL or Wet Sounds amp? I found a nice JL HD750 for a good price on Ebay

since the clarion head unit in the boat doesn't have a sub out, the amp has to "sum" a signal to drive the sub. My Memphis had this. I guess all amps do as well due to being able to tune frequency to them? Does that make sense?

If your sub is a 4 ohm, look at the Wet Sounds HT-6 as an option

Arc has 2 full-range class-D 5 chnls and a 6 chnl in the XDi series. All redesigned and due to drop this spring. Kicker has the IX1000.5 full-range class-D and the marine KXM800.5 full-range class-D.

All solid options to consider with the info given.

What channel went bad?

Another reason to NOT do a multi channel.
One amp for speakers, one for subs.

What size/kind of sub.
I do find ARC amps to be good quality and efficient. KAR and KS have a built in fan which helps keep things cool, especially on boats with tight compartments and long play sessions.

I just bit the bullet and bought the JL. Lot's of sketchy rationalization to it, but it's boating, we all do it.
