Speaker wire connection

Speaker wire has writing on one strand and the other no writing. My instructions for these outdoor speakers say to connect the strand with writing to red and no writing to negative black. I got it backwards and did the opposite also on my stereo amp. Am I ok if I stayed consistent with my mistake thruout the connection? Thx for anyone's help that knows the answer.

Depends. How many strands of copper are under the side with the writing on it. Go check and get back to us.

Just kidding. You're fine.

To me, this forum is about love of inboard boats. It is about the sharing of information and, on a good day, some humor. It is not about post count, brand of boat, or any other superfluous labels that lend themselves to a false sense of superiority. Please, respect one another, try to pass on accurate information, and keep your eye on the ball.

That's funny. I was fixin to go and check the thickness of each strand then saw the rest of your post. With sound stuff I am pretty gullible

As long as the same wires are plugged into the same place, you're good. As long as the same wire is plugged into the same lead on both ends, it doesn't matter which one. I usually do the side with the writing on it to the negative (black) lead.

Same here. Black ink writing with the black terminals was my logic. Thanks, now over to the drinking thread.
