X star floor repair

So last winter I spent a fair amount of time repairing the removable floor piece in the bow of the X star (above the KGB ballast). One of the corners had cracked / chipped pretty bad, so I had ground out all the bad stuff, and re glassed and gel coated the corner. My fiberglass work isn't the best, but it usually gets the job done. I go to bolt the floor back in, and upon tightening the screws down, the corner cracked again immediately.

So I said screw it, and made one from billet! The plus side is that its got some bling factor, and weighs about 60 lbs. The down side, is it will probably get hot in the sun... but I own a CNC machine shop, so I like things out of billet.... probably why I bought a Mastercraft in the first place. They aren't the best photos and I don't post on here much at all, but I figured you all might like to see it!

That's ridiculously good looking. You could sell those on the side I'm sure.

Thanks Lentiman! Aric, I am so pumped to get those, thanks so much for getting those out this week!

I don't think MC would be too thrilled that I was using their logo and selling it, not trying to step on anyones toes, but I guess I could make blank ones.. I am better at CNC work than fiberglass, so i figured making this was a no brainer!

on second thought, you should mod your carpet to show this off.

Thanks again guys.. I made about 10 of those billet deck lids. Oh and I hate running carpet in my boat, so that won't be a problem!

Wow! There are a number of creative, custom MC things that come through this site and that is one of the coolest. As said above, most people have carpet there so a carpet cut out could be an option. Just tossing out ideas... perhaps you could make a billet cover as you did but only have a smaller design in the middle and have a small carpet cut out for just that design in billet. that way people can keep the uniform look of mostly all carpet but have that billet logo pop.
