If you can get a comparable X15 for a better deal than a X2, jump all over it.
My buddy has a 06 X15 and I have a 06 X2. Both mcx engines.
The boats are nearly the same weight within 100 lbs dry and drive and handle almost the same in every respect except surfing. I prefer the X15. It will handle a lot more ballast and drives better, doesn't try to dunk the nose near as much as the X2. Had 1600lbs plus factory ballast and 4-5 adults and it handled that weight Better than my x2 with 800 lbs extra sacks.
Has quite a bit more interior room too.
Love my X2 but really wanted a 15 when I bought the X2.
For even money I'd take a 15 any day of the week and twice on Sun.

My advice is don't limit yourself to just mastercraft. Don't get me wrong, I love them and recommend them but there are other good brands (correct craft, malibu, centurion etc). X15 is also a good choice and has some advantages over the x2 as mentioned above. You might also consider an Xstar since you like the PF bow. Because the gen2 has been around for many years, you can probably find one in your price range. It's a better all around boat than some think and they hold their value well. I originally wanted an x2 for the same reasons as you and ended up with an xstar. Couldn't be happier.

Just to update, insurance has come through and settled, minimal loss financially so after owning an 07 for 3 yrs, reasonably happy with outcome, but *** not having a boat in our summer.
So definitely keeping my options open, MC NXT can't wait for this at our Melb boat show in June, by that stage will know more about it, 07-09 X-star maybe, but also considering an MB (slap me now and talk some sense into me) but they are well priced here in Aus. yet I am to ride in and behind one
