Xstar system from scratch! Help!

First off I have a 04 Xstar- Basically I pulled all 6 interior speakers (Clarion) which were pretty bad off, I had (6) 6.5s on the tower and those aren't looking to hot either. I currently am running interior speakers off head unit (CMD5) and tower was powered by a kicker zx 650.4 and (2) JL 10w6 and stock free air 10" powered by JLM6450. Question is what route should I go? I've read a lot on here and would really like to keep that 6 cans on the tower since they have led light rings on them. What interior and towers should I go with? What amp to push what I get? I'm pretty handy with installs just wanted to hear yalls opinions. Should I gut the whole thing and upgrade the radio and put in a EQ?

Simple answer is all JL 7.7's cockpit and towers...no need for 6 tower speakers. Just run 200W to each in boat speaker. 2 M6600's will do just that. Skip the free air...just power the 10w6 with as much as it can handle.

Im leaning towards rev 8s (4) powered by syn 2 amp. Orrr (2) Rev 8s and (2) Pro60s for tower and JL 6.5 stock for interior. Still reading a lot on here to see what people are doing. Its tough since things change so much.

Sound quality is so subjective it really comes down to what you think sounds the best. Wet sounds and JL are both amazing and top of the line. I've been in boats with both and it's a coin flip. HLCD speakers will absolutely carry farther and be "louder", the JL's to me will have a slightly richer more musically accurate sound. You can't go wrong if these two are on your short list...just make sure you give them enough juice and have batteries to back them up.

What you end up with is determined by your budget... be prepared to spend a pretty healthy sum if you want a decent set-up. IMO, you can't go wrong with JL Audio and Wetsounds. You don't have to choose one...combining them could deliver great results. ol1970 is correct by stating you don't need 6 tower speakers. The reality is that factory setups are way underpowered. You will notice a drastic improvement by upgrading your amplification and replacing the Clarion speakers with JL Audio or Wetsounds. Good luck and have fun with it!

Thanks guys- Well what I did today since all the tower cans had led light rings on them was took all the 6.5"s and light rings and moved them to the interior. Then I took down all cans and rewired all interior. So now Im left with a blank canvas for the tower.

Sounds like a start... One option for your tower is 4 JL M770s on the tower powered by either JL MHD 600/4 or MHD 750/1
