Mike, the bolt was on the driver side of the tranny, under the ECM mountings above the tranny.

It was really hard to find to find, I needed the dealers help because we traced all the usual suspects like seals and tranny cooler. I was lucky that I did not pull the tranny out of desperation .... I had some tranny fluid and smell for a summer in my bilge and it drove me nuts .....

Boat is covered in the garage but mAybe over the weekend, I will pull back the cover and snap a pic ...

Yeah, 15-45 wt oil is what my manual says. I just use the same oil that goes in the motor.

X2 I had the same problem this summer I did tighten one of the tranny lines but would like to see where that bolt was. Not sure if I fixed it but ran good for the rest of the season.

It's almost time to end my 05 XStar's winter hibernation in underground storage cave so I need to refocus on fixing the oil leak. One day after winterizing boat last fall, I noticed oil dripping onto my driveway from bilge drain that's located mid-keel. My winterization checklist didn't involve changing/adding oil to tranny or engine......

I traced the oil back towards the tranny. I removed the middle cushion from rear bench seat to expose the transmission area and took this pic. The green circle identifies the "bolt" that appeared to be leaking oil.

Here's a close up of leak....

Could this have occurred because the boat wasn't level while running engine during winterization?

STRMCHZR,

great pics but I believe you are pointing to a venting cap / breather cap on your tranny .. usually if fluid leaks from there it is due to overfilling or a faulty cap.... are you sure it came from there?

Thanks ... maybe you just over-filled? (I did not go back and read whole thread in case you address that.)

Peace.

that is the breather valve... and that can leak of over filled or orientation of trans of kilter - the cap should float up and down.

I'm pretty positive that's where the oil leak originated.... You can see the "oil slick" beneath the valve where oil was dripping into bilge

What do I need to do to fix the leak?
