Bent the winch post

I am not sure how the hell this happened. I was driving on a two way highway and the car in front of me decided that they needed to slam on their brakes to pull over for a funeral procession. I in turn slammed on mine and locked everything up engaging ABS.

The rear straps were on and tight, I would assume that is the only thing that kept me from eating the boat.

I guessing it will be a cut it off and add new kind of fix, but I am waiting to hear more back on that.

Laws of physics mostly (not being smart about it). You got lucky it didn't come in on you. Glad you had the straps. I think people over estimate the capability of a small and light structural frame to hold a boat in place during an event that changes towing circumstances drastically. I have lost a boat off a trailer way back when... Not a nice thing to happen.

Thanks for sharing.

Yea, when I got to the storage unit, I was a bit suprised by how much force that would have been to cause that.

If I would have been driving the 2005 Dodge Dakota that I used to have, I would have never stopped in time.
