Red face Ford Engines

I have heard that Ford is wanting to get back in the marine industry. They don't seem very committed. I'm not sure if this is it. But being at SEMA might make sense to announce that Indmar is switching back ?

I'm thinking the turbos would generate too much heat under the engine box, but an Ecoboost marine engine is interesting.

Ford Engines

GM is actually still making the Iron Block 5.7 in Mexico exclusively for the marine industry. They will for 2 more years.

It seems strange that Indmar is switching to Ford from GM. Ford offers only the 5.0 and 6.2 in V8's.
The 5.0 is all aluminum and the 6.2 is Iron Block with Aluminum heads. As wide as that Ford 6.2 is it seems like it will create less storage and bigger engine compartments?

GM still definitely makes the 5.7 Iron Block and heads in Toluca, Mexico.

Nothing has been announced to that effect... its just speculation by the OP. I doubt very highly that Ford is getting back into the marine industry.

5.0 would make a nice 350+hp package out of a small displacement engine but its wide like the 6.2. May not fit well in narrower or DD boats.
