Is a factory, OEM cover an overall nice cover? Are they similar to the Sunbrella type? I would imagine that they fit great, no? Why are they so expensive? I mean, $800-900+ for a factory cover? Is it weather proof etc? Or are there better options, if say an oem cover was available at a dealership for example? Or is the after market type a better product?

They are not Sunbrella, and I don't think the fit was all that good. When compared to a custom cover, there really is no comparison. My dealer suggested I go custom, so they know there are better options out there.

I have a 2008 Stingray 195LR (which I am trying to sell). I bought a custom fit cover from Carver for it. I have been really pleased with the cover. I have had it for 3 years with no issues. The only complaint that I have is that their pattern seemed to be slightly off right in front of the windshield. On both sides in that area, they have a little too much material and it creates a small pucker that will catch water, not much, maybe 4 ounces.
They have one for your boat and the covers are made in South Carolina. http://dealerguide.carvercovers.com/boats/display/9791 |

I just bought a custom fit cover from www.skiboatcovers.com
It's made out of sunbrella, has three support poles, custom tower cutouts and a nylon strap and buckle system that tightens the cover just below the rub rail. It fits perfect and looks awesome. The Sunbrella material was important to me because it breathes much better than any other cover material. I store my boat indoors less than a mile from the launch ramp, so I don't have a lot of towing distance between the water and storage for the boat to dry out. The cover cost me right at $1000, but should last me well over 10 years, so that's really only $100 per year to keep the boat clean and dry... Small investment compared to the cost of the boat.

I have a set of custom sunbrella snap-on covers, including a tower cover, all of which are fantastic. However, when it came time to replace my pull-over travel cover I bought the sharkskin-supreme cover from iboats.com. The fit is perfect, stretches tight over the swim platform, velcroes around the tower legs, and has nice hooks/ratchets for the rope cinch.

Actually, the factory OEM covers are Sunbrella. Our Exact-Fit covers are offered in Sunbrella as well.
