Question 351 winterize

Drained the water, exhaust risers, both sides of block, elbow below water pump, removed water pump after pumping 5 gallons of red rv. Talked to a friend, he said are you sure the thermostat opened? The temp guage never reads more than 120 degrees. So now i'm not sure. Went to where i store the boat, uncovered it, checked all the drains and red pop came out all 4 drains. Why can't we just winterize and forget? Always have that doubt. Do you guys feel the same?

Your PCM 351 engine has a bypass on the tstat. Once you drain, you can fill the block, etc. by pouring RV antifreeze through a hose straight into the tstat housing. Doesn't matter if the engine is warm.

To me, this forum is about love of inboard boats. It is about the sharing of information and, on a good day, some humor. It is not about post count, brand of boat, or any other superfluous labels that lend themselves to a false sense of superiority. Please, respect one another, try to pass on accurate information, and keep your eye on the ball.
