Regarding the line winder, you should check out the stunt kite line products catalogs/websites. Some interesting (and simple) concepts there that address the same problems. Simple is good. There is enough complicated Sh*t on my boat already.

This has been made already, I have one at my cabin and don't use it. It was a nice design and I believe the inventer was from IL somewhere. Wish I could remember the name of it, but its black and yellow.

Yep, I do remember that Erk.

I will have to think of the name of it...It just rolled up the rope manually into a plastic compartment...think the guy had an 847 area code....
