Most oxidation will buff out. $400 sounds like a reasonable amount to deduct for having that done or the trouble of doing it yourself.

As for the brakes, MC decided it would be a good idea to wrap the brake lines in a rubber sheath in that era. My guess is that the lines are rusted. Deduct cost of replacing brake lines with stainless and everything that goes along with that. It's possible the actuator might need to be replaced.

Trailer tires in fair condition. Deduct $300 to replace trailer tires (before you bring it home). Nothing worse than towing at highway speeds on fair trailer tires on a single axle trailer.

Good luck.

To me, this forum is about love of inboard boats. It is about the sharing of information and, on a good day, some humor. It is not about post count, brand of boat, or any other superfluous labels that lend themselves to a false sense of superiority. Please, respect one another, try to pass on accurate information, and keep your eye on the ball.

All good tips and negotiating points! The trailer is a tandem axle.

What is a ballpark cost for 4 tires? I did a quick search however don't know what type I would need. All I know is that they are 14".

I had a 92 PS 205 for ~6 years. Sold a couple years ago for 12K. It was all factory and had the 351 285 HO. great boat but you may need to consider eventually replacing a few items. The old plunger style starter finally pooped out on mine and i upgraded it along with the alternator. Also had a flat spot in the carb that I could never seem to fix so purchased a new carb. Other than that i did some other desired (not required) upgrades. I have a copy of the owners manual too. PM me your email and i will send you the pdf. Not sure but assume some of these part#s may be same:
Dip stick D5UE 6750 AF
OJ - 13x13 LH 4 blade.
Plugs - Autolite 764 (.035)
Rotor - NAPA AL163
Cap - NAPA AL171
Oil Filter - FL1A
Belt NAPA XL25 7448, Duralast 15445.
PCV MC EV-68 2F16 / NAPA 2-9210
Impeller - Johnson 812 splined
Part # for fuel sending unit
41 91 601716
Part # for glove box hinges Southco - E6-10-301-20

So he sold this boat to a family member

Turns out that we picked up a 94' prostar 205 last Friday. I'll take some pics this weekend and post them up. It's parked in a tight spot right now since I have my drive poured and want to seal it.
