If anyone with any sense manages that officer, they will use this as a learning moment.

One of the first rules for a first responder is to not become a victim or cause more casualties ..... This officer is lucky that no one was on the boat or boarding the boat when he pulled this move.

He needs to take a boater's safety course and be more humble .....yelling to "relax" cost him style points ....

That could have turned out worst .... That boat owner is a classy person.

First rule of a boat captain. Never lose control of your vessel ....

I want to hear the excuses he will give his co workers. Just glad someone caught it on tape so they can talk about it the rest of his career!

I live in Georgetown (DC) a couple blocks from where this happened. Watching people out on boats in the potomac is entertaining. Its 100% amateur hour all the time.

Wow. And even if he hadn't hit the boat, that power turn and the resulting wake...that's the stuff of tumultuous threads on here!

Haha if that video is any indication of how the professionals normally drive, I'd hate to see how the amateurs do it!

And I agree, the boat owner has some serious restraint! She is right, the other party is going to make it right. But I'm sure they're going to be a big PITA about it in the process. It would surprise me to no end if she ended up not having to retain somebody to make this right.

What on earth was he (cop boat) trying to accomplish here?!?

Was he mad or just trying to set some sort of example. I just don't get the reason he decided to come so close to a boat, at high rate of speed, and then try to spray everyone? That's just wierd!

Another story on this link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUxq_inRLqA

Skip to 1:10 to see the damage as the boat sits on an undersized trailer......

Apparently DC water cops don't have a good rep and from reading on another boat site, this specific officer is known for stupid actions and showboating.
Going into a DC winter is a rough time to get put on foot patrol
