Unhappy a bad day on the lake

hi guys i wanted to tell you all about my bad day on the lake i'd previously asked a question about why my s&s seemed to lose drive when powering on and the answer quite rightly was to check the transmission fluid and top up/replace if needed and upon looking i decided the fluid looked a bit worse for wear so i changed it happy days my s&s ran like a dream for 6 hours so i put her to bed happy in the knowlage i'd fixed my baby ready for the family holiday. however on our first day of the holiday whilst indulging in some light wakeboarding i lost all drive and had to paddle it to shore que some light ribbing from some friends ashore blaming me for not buying a prostar as thats a proper boat (very embarssing) when i lifted the engine cover i found that the velvet drive had lost all its fluid into hull!!! so after getting it back on to the trailer and after a barrage of complaints from the wife and kids blaming me for ruining the holiday!!!!! i managed to get a local mastercraft guru to have a look he diagnosed that it was eather a pipe or a seal had gone.it turned out to be the seal so i had that replaced and also for good measure replaced the pump as i had been running it dry whilst trying to get it ashore all this for 400 i'd have paid double just to keep the kids happy and i hope to never do the paddle of shame again

I'll see your paddle of shame and raise you a kayak tow!

Glad you got your issue resolved. Personally, I find the maintenance part of it half the fun.

For those of us with older Mastercrafts who haven't had the embarrassment of being towed in at some point, fear not, you will join the list at some point. Got towed in this year once (starter went out) and when I first got it, I had to swim it to shore as I neglected to put the paddle in the boat. Fortunately it was a short swim and both the weather and me were plenty hot, so cooling down was a good thing.

Good to hear the day was saved. Cheers

My paddle is always left in my boat, the hour meter on the paddle got more hours than the boat when I stayed at my parents house when I moved back to the south.

Knock on wood and I probably shouldn't say this but my 23 year old 190 has done all the pulling the past 2 summers. Last year I pulled my buddy's 2010 Baja in twice, another guy's 2007 fishing boat, my brothers 2005 pontoon boat. This year I've pulled 3 people 2 were 2006 models and 1 was my father in laws 2002 Aztec. Oh and I forgot last year I had to pull in my in laws 55' house boat also. She has been good to me so far. But I know I'm gonna have to be pulled one day and all these people I've pulled in over the years are gonna be no where to be found when I need it.

I've been pulled in a few times. My 190 was in storage for years when I bought it, and for the first month running it was one thing after another. With the fuel system. I think4 tows in as many weeks. She's dialed in now tho!
