Preventing Mildew
Our X9 is a lift queen, but we are still constantly fighting mildew. This summer has been the worst, probably due to the amount of rain and moisture.
![]() It's pretty normal that we use the boat through Sunday afternoon and then put it on the lift, wipe off the seats, put the sunbrella cover on and head the 2 hrs home. However this doesn't take care of moisture in the carpet and other areas of the boat. I have thought about not putting the cover on, but the boat sitting uncovered all week open to birds, dust, pollen etc bothers me. Has anyone found an effective solution for a problem like this? We do have power on the dock.

Only way I know is to get air moving under the cover... Traxxx is an expert in mold remediation... maybe PM him

You have power on your dock? Put a couple fans in it and leave your seats pulled forward about an inch to let air circulate everywhere.

If you have power on the dock a fan never hurts. I have had good luck with damprid and always put a canister or two in the boat before I put it away. You can find it with cleaning supplies at most big box stores.
http://www.damprid.com/ No experience with these, but always thought they looked interesting. http://www.gandermountain.com/modper...10#reviewsInfo If nothing else I have these on by MC cover and they seem to help. http://www.gandermountain.com/modper...i=71180&r=view

Keeping the cover off is the key. I have an X9/209 with a 2006 tower installed. When I designed my boat lift set up I made sure I could drive in with the tower up but still be able to suck it up as far as the windshield with the tower collapsed. See pictures. This solved my problems. If the boat is really wet I rum box fans connected to my canopy while the boat is in the lift.

Let it dry off before you cover it....
My boat is on a lift, and covered. I usually let it sit 2 hours + depending on how wet it is before I cover it. If you have to cover it immediately, as mentioned, power and a fan will help tremendously. |

Sounds like a good place for a timer for the fan. Don't need it to run all week....just a few hours.

If you had to let it dry before you covered it, you'd have to stop using it by noon on Sunday, so that solution is out. I put mine away wet almost every week, covered with a Sunbrella cover and I've never had a problem. When I come back on Friday, it's dry inside, and no mildew.
