Do it and test one to see how it does!

On my previous boat (Malibu VLX) I tried the globe, and the results were poor, although a lot of people claim they are great.

On my first one, the the interior splines were not correctly bonded to the rubber, so the splines were spinning, but not the impeller. No good.

I got a replacement, and the second one worked ok, however, after I sold the boat, the purchaser told me it developed a very similar issue where it wouldn't prime with water. (Maybe 25 hours on the impeller). He replaced it was a Johnson, and it was ok again.

I had one on my previous boat, 190 Prostar w LT-1, and it caused the engine to constantly overheat at idle. The impellor is too weak at low speeds to pump water IMHO.

I've been using them in an '02 X-9 with the LQ9 engine for 6 or 7 years now without any problem. Replace it every 2 years, idle and running temp have always been OK. The vanes on the Globe do seem to be softer and more flexible than a stock impellor. The engine does have a closed cooling system, so the impellor is only pumping lake water through the hoses, oil cooler, exhaust manifolds, and the "radiator" for the closed system, and not throughout the engine block.
