Have been there...more or less... since then. She is coming around. For all of us on here who are parents - what I kept talking to her about while she was unconscious and what is keeping her strong through therapy (Up to a year more to come??) is wake surfing and wake boarding. She has a big picture of her wake surfing on the wall of her room in the hospital. We have watched countless episodes of wake brothers together. Soul Surfer is a great movie that she and I have shared as of late. The times on the water that I spent with your kids will resonate throughout there lives... I really try to be the best "me" that I can be... they really pick up on the small stuff. This has been a trying time, but also a time to really get to know my daughter and myself. My level of patience, my faith, my beliefs, have grown strongly... Despite being told by a resident doctor that "the life your daughter had, as you knew it, ended with that accident" and that we "need to seek long term nursing home facilities" - we will be out...wake-boarding, knee-boarding and wake surfing next spring. I cannot help to think that if she had not spent so much time over last winter on the indo board and working out for this summer's water time, that her rehab would be going slower. Funny how things work.
Scott - so sorry to read about this... I wish your daughter and family the best and a great recovery.

Sam, I am very grateful to hear your daughter is ok. And getting better. You mentioned that her working out on the boat and core strengthening activities on the water have helped her gain advantages on her recovery.

That is excellent news. I pray for your daughter and family in this trying time.

To lighten the burden, you can drop off that new X30 at my slip in channahon. Anytime.

Thank you all for the thoughts, prayers and concerns about my daughter Sam. She was released from the hospital on 09/10/2013 - two days earlier than initially anticipated and started out-patient therapy on 09/12/2013 at RIC in Willowbrook. She insisted that she WALK out of the hospital and she did. Her RIC therapists told her/us that they had read her file and were amazed that she walked in for therapy. She (with limited assistance from me) has been practicing her indo-board...granted not as good or for as long as before - but still better than I could have expected. We have a yoga instructor coming to our house 2 days a week and we are arranging for acupuncture to start next week. She really wants to get in the water, but I think it wisest to wait until next year. She did ride a bike today though...tough and courageous kid!

Great news scott... we can make an event of her first outing next year... we can arrange a flotilla of MC's to escort her first ride...
