No experience myself but one of my guys invented a snowmobilling device and hired a local guy. He said hire local and pay a few bucks more but you'll be safe from the ripoff artists. Bite the bullet and pay hourly like any other attorney. if they ask for a cut of something move on. As soon as you file for the patent the t.v. guys will be on you like flies on excrement.

The provisional patent is kind of a hold card. It gives you one year to get your formal write up done and submitted. It also gives you the legal right to use patent pending.

You can do that part on the cheap through legalzoom and then find someone else to get the rest done. The part of this that ends up being so costly is the patent search. IE sreaching current patents to make sure you aren't using someone elses idea and that your idea will hold water against others' ideas.

Perfect, advise. I almost got suckered in to one of thous invent idea places. They just want a percentage for your idea, big rip off.
