v drive question

My previous Malibus had ZF transmissions and so does the new X2. Question is, why do they look completely different. The X2 transmission is really big whereas the Malibu has a smaller pod shaped unit.

Please educate on the two v drives. I figured all ZF was the same...

ZF makes drices for all sizes of boats, all the way up to cargo ships.
