Factory Tour Recommendations

I'm trying to schedule a factory tour while our 2014 xstar is being built. Looking for recommendations on...

- when to go? after hull and cap are joined, once engine is set, when interior is being set? looking for advice as I've been told they can pretty much accommodate me anytime.

- fly into knoxville?

- stay in downtown knox or closer to vanore?

- any other things worth seeing in that part of the country?

I didn't see mine being built due to my work, but was told by my dealer that you want to go see yours in the last 3 days of production. He said this is basically the time everything comes together on your baby. First portion of production your hull is sitting in a mold, different items are throughout the plant. Just the advise I was given. Hope it helps and congrats!

Is there a way to track your boat from home as it progresses down the line?

Btw - thanks for your service.

MPABREO...thanks a ton for your support! I am so giddy to track the build process. I wish I could go to the factory, but it isn't possible right now. I was hoping there was a way to track a build number or serial number. You can imagine what that would do for morale.

Factory Tour

You want to go on the last day. That's when all the components will be put in. tanks, motor, seats, tower, dash and etc.... Until then there is really not a lot to look at. I was just there in Dec.

Explain your situation to you dealer and ask him to get with his MC rep and see if they can send you a couple build shots. Im sure theyd be willing to do so for someone who's doing what you are for your country. Im fact have your wife explain and ask the dealer.

That is not a bad idea. Maybe somebody can snap a shot or two on their lunch break. I'll do it!

Factory Tour Recommendation

Agree with the final 3 days of the process. Anytime in that range is going to be a good show. If you can see it on the final assembly line, it actually looks like a boat!!!

We were there early in the process for our x55 - it was still in three separate molds. It was neat to see and we were glad we made the trip regardless of the stage. I will say, we were there on a Friday and the plant is VERY slow on that day - both good and bad. We didn't have to worry about a busy facility and could go pretty much everywhere. Bad, you do not get to see a lot of the actual work going on.

We have two boys (9 and 6) and stayed at the big indoor water park (Wilderness at the smokies) in Sevierville. About an hour to get to Vonore. Kids enjoyed the tour AND a water park. A ton of different things to do in the area - we spent a little time in Pigeon Forge, good restaurants and other fun things for families.

We were there for a 4 day weekend, could have extended it out to a 5th and 6th day pretty easy. Plan on about 2-3 hours for the tour tops. It's quite a bit smaller operation than you think.

Our tour guide was Talent Franklin - he did an OUTSTANDING job with us on the tour.

Does Mr Franklin have an email? I wonder if he might help me with my challenge.
