Distributor rotation question

Recently experienced a distributor failure. I am in need of determining if I have a left hand or right hand rotation engine. I removed the distributor cap, while in front of the engine I bumped the starter and the rotor was going counterclockwise. Would this be considered left hand rotation? I need to know this before I order a new one. What is the best distributor to go back with to replace the original EI distributor. This is for an 85 351w. Thanks for any advice.

85 was not originally equipped with electronic ignition.
Your 85 is LH rotation or also known as standard rotation.
I personally like the mallory unilite marine billet plug and play distributors.

Does that distributor require a seperate ignition box? I am not familiar with them.

No does not need an external box, just needs an external coil like original.
This is what I used. Simply install, power, ground and a signal.
