TV station releases names of Asiana pilots

You can't make this stuff up....

The station did subsequently issue an apology. Somehow, the fact that they got the names from the NTSB just makes it that much funnier.

So much for journalistic rigor. Welcome to the "news" circa 2013.

I can't believe that was real and that the Media truly is that easily manipulated!

The National Transportation Safety Board apologizes for inaccurate and offensive names that were mistakenly confirmed as those of the pilots of Asiana flight 214, which crashed at San Francisco International Airport on July 6.

Earlier today, in response to an inquiry from a media outlet, a summer intern acted outside the scope of his authority when he erroneously confirmed the names of the flight crew on the aircraft.

The NTSB does not release or confirm the names of crewmembers or people involved in transportation accidents to the media. We work hard to ensure that only appropriate factual information regarding an investigation is released and deeply regret today's incident.

In an effort to be "first", media rarely takes truth into account. The Boston Marathon bombing coverage played out like a contest between Fox and CNN to see who could be more blatantly wrong and laughable.

The problem lies in the anchor passing the buck, and everyone going on like nothing happened, even though its disrespectful and racist. A quick glance at those names and you can tell it's a joke... but blame the intern and move on, problem solved...

Laughed for a solid 5 mins after hearing/seeing this. Great prank. Bet the intern never thought it would make it on TV.

They took the video down.

Reminds me of a SNL skit.
