Those Lake Travis pictures are definatly before out drought. Travis normally can vary 20 ft in a season but currently it's 54ft below normal. Many people still have boats stuck on lifts, must launch from shore etc. Currently looks nothing like those rentals...

Might want to ask the landlords for current pictures...

Mountain Harbor on Lake Ouachita. By far the best lake in the state of Arkansas and close to Hot Springs which is a pretty neat place to visit. Not as busy and happenin as Branson unless the horses are runnin at Oaklawn, but still fun nonetheless.

You can usually find some condos on VRBO.com

Here's a little more about the resort.

Wow, thats lousy to hear about Lake Travis and surrounding bodies of water. That was looking good as we have some friends in Austin and Dallas.

Lake ouachita looks very nice (the name makes me want to say ouachootoo like from Ace Ventura)

But unfortunately I didn't find any rentals available during our time frame available and the ones that were available were kinda shaggy.

You are correct, no real waterfront properties. As far as Havasu Landing, I've never actually stayed there. However, I have been to that small casino a few times and was mostly unimpressed. My wife won $500 on a slot machine, and the way the employees were acting and congratulating her, you'd think we just won the super lotto! Since you're driving all that way, I would think you'd be better off at Powell on a houseboat or something of the like. Otherwise my wife and I spent a few days at the London Bridge Resort before our Honeymoon Cruise and had a blast. Boat docked in the channel. We have a place in Havasu so if you have any questions about that I can probably help.

that's exactly what I was thinking about Travis ... pretty much anything farther upstream, especially listed as Pedernales or Spicewood area would be really questionable with the current lake level...

but ... just a short distance up river is Lake LBJ which is a constant level (I think the largest constant level in the US???) that should have some decent places waterfront ... http://www.homeaway.com/search/keywo...e+LBJ%2C+Texas or http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals...untry/lake-lbj ... I just don't have time to search since you have some specifics in mind of what you are looking for.

There is a small resort that we have stayed a number of times, both renting their cabins, condos/villas and taking our RV... can be rustic to fairly modern depending on which rental unit you look into. Swimming pool (small), hot tub, BBQ pits/grills, convenient dining & grocery store. Reasonably priced, good location with ramp, slip rental and lighted/baited floating fishing dock. About an hour & 15-30 minute drive back into Austin. http://www.rio-vista-resort.com/ ...
