1990 Prostar trailer axle question

First time Mastercraft for me. I just bought a 1990 Prostar. Hull is in great shape, interior is usable, has the 351W with powerslot trans and 476 hrs on it. Got it for $6000. The bad is they replaced the axle and when installing they turned it upside down. The trailer looks like it has an 8" lift kit on it. The axle is too narrow as well. I'm going to buy another axle and replace it myself. Has anyone tried a 2" drop axle instead of the factory 4"? I hear a lot about the prop guard dragging. Could any of you 190 owners measure your axle width from hub face to hub face . Since mine is too narrow, I don't have anything to go on. I can get one made with any width and 2 or 4 inch drop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rich
