So does that mean you pulled them already and know the answer?

Barr is the standard manifold and riser mfg. I can see what kind of cost you are looking at if you have a part #.

For decoration, Hydroforming is advertised heat resistant 225-300 and I have seen it on valve covers and intake manifolds. A wet elbow should not get any hotter but if you are serious, I would consider Ceramic Chromex. Look good and cut down on heat!
Looks like this shop would run $250-300 for the pair of manifolds w risers.

Trax I get your question. Sounds like the computer is trying adjust for the exhaust leak. I have had this in a car and it sounds pretty bad. Exhaust manifold gasket is not hard to wrench on if your up for it. Should not take that long. Don't think it would damage it just air passing through and is annoying as hell. It would irritate me enough not to go. Good luck!

Thanks, I'm going to run it annoying for this weekend. With the cover closed you can barely and I mean barely hear it. I spent a bit talking to my marine mechanic yesterday and he said to stop being a baby and run it. Parts come in next week. At least I didn't have to deal with this over July 4th.

Well I took the TT advice and didn't run it.
Last I heard from my mechanic I have 30psi in two cylinders and he is pulling the head tomorrow to find out if it's just a head gasket or if I need a new motor. All other cylinders are at 175. The two cylinders with low comp are adjacent. Port side.

Wish me luck

Ouch, that does not sound good.
My buddy had a leak he let go for too long between the block and head. Burned a trough on both block and head. Both had to be scrapped.

Just don't continue his path. Being the low budget, shade tree kind of guy, he pulled the engine himself and found a used block, pieced heads and is in the process of wasting more time and money putting it back together himself. I doubt he has it done by 4th, so he will have wasted half a season and I bet it does not make it a couple years before more problems. Would have been much better going with a long block and being done with it.......

I know troy, heard yours was two adjacent cylinders too. Makes me not feel good.

It will be fixed the right way. Waiting for the final diagnosis.

best case, send the heads out and all new valves, gaskets, and put it back together.

Worst case, pull the engine and put a new one in. Michigan Motors seems to have reman engines for $2299.

Either way I may not have it back before the 4th. Fingers crossed.

I'll update tomorrow after the head is pulled off and we can get a better look.
