'93 Prostar 205 New Upholstery

I need some advice guys.

I have a 1993 Prostar 205 that I have had of 15 years. It has the original upholstery in it right now and I have babied it along for as long as I can. This winter it needs all new upholstery and carpet.

Been reading threads on here about getting a new interior. Lots of good and bad comments about Viper in TN. I'm in KS but have no problem going to TN if that is the best place but I'd like to hear from others about their experience, with Viper or any where else. Viper gave me a phone estimate of $4K. Sounds like from everyone else that is usually a little short.

Any pics of work you have had done or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I had a 2001 205v x-star and I had Top Performance Marine here in Tn do it and they did an awesome job IMO. I would be more than happy to send you my before and after pics if you would like. I also priced Viper and these folks did the exact same job for a good bit less money. They did full embroidery and used all of the latest carbon fiber materials. Like I said just my opinion, but being only about 15 miles from Viper, I just believe that the are a little over-hyped, they do very good work, but are very expensive. Like I said, I can send pics and you can judge for yourself.

You have probably already read my Viper thread that Mastercraft shut down so I'll spare you the details. I was able to find an outstanding shop in MN called C&E upholstery. They do all the work for Midwest Mastercraft and my experience was outstanding vs my experience with Viper. looks like the twin cities would also be closer.

Top Performance Marine in Knoxville is also in my opinion a TOP NOTCH shop. I've had a lot of custom work completed in their shop. I was quoted nearly $8K for my 2006 Mastercraft and Top Performance Marine did it for right around $5K. They also did my Pro Star 190 for $3K.. If you do a Google Search you can find them online. They don't post all of their work online, but I know they do a ton of Mastercrafts. The last time I was there, they had 4 MC's torn down with all of the interiors removed with a few Supra's and Moomba's outside. You should Google them and give them a call. Heck stop in Nashville on your way, make a cool trip out of it!

I have a local shop that I am confident can do an excellent job but want to make sure they have the best materials available. What material should they/I be looking for?

I'm pulling ours to Top Performance Marine this Friday. I hope to be able to start a thread to document the progress. We linked up with them at the end of October to select colors and lay out the details.

Super impressed with professionalism so far..

Yes please post a thread about your experience. Great to know there was another shop in Knoxville doing good work. I have friends in Knoxville and after my experience with Viper he wasn't sure he had a local option for his interior anymore.

Took my 1993 Prostar 205 to Top Performance Marine on Thursday last week. Looking forward to see it done in a couple months. New carpet and unholstery, Jonathan said wet sanding was not needed and a good professional polish would lead the same results. Here are a few pics of "today". I'll post progress pics as I receive them.

Is your boat a '92 model Prostar 190, black with a teal stripe? If so I have a pic for you. It was sitting in the shop all gutted. I took the pic and sent it to my kids saying I hope mine looks this way soon.
