You shouldn't bite them first

I'm back up and going. Ended up that the fracture did not got through the joint as thought from the initial x rays. I'm already wakeboarding again. Whew! It was a painful 4 weeks though....

Glad you are back on the water!

On the failed WTW that started this...were you wearing a helmet and/or do you now? The reason I ask is b/c my 16 y/o daughter's goal is a WTW by the end of the season...I've been contemplating getting her a helmet.....

I have considered wearing a helmet and don't have a problem with wearing one at all. But I am NOT wearing one because it a controversial topic. Some say that the possible neck damage from the helmet catching the water on landing could cause more problems. At the moment, I'm not supposed to do any WTW jumps. I still have vertigo issues at times and it's been almost one year since I knocked myself unconscious. I will tell you this though....I was pulling too fast and tearing back at the wake way too fast all last summer. I thought I needed more speed than you need. It's about the pop not about the speed and that's what got me hurt (in my opinion).

I have neck issues and I just started wearing a helmet and I feel certain that some of the falls I have taken have been less painful with the helmet. I have not noticed any pain in my neck associated with my helmet. I not only wakeboard but sky ski as well and you can come down at some funny angles on those. I have never worn a helmet in the past but now I will not go without one. Mine is so light that I cannot even really tell it is on. I have heard the same argument with wearing certain types of motorcycle helmets with larger vents on the top and catching things if you fell, but it really is a non issue. It is all about how much you value your head.

What features should I look for in a helmet? I'll buy one and try it. I definitely want to protect my brain from another concussion...that's for dang sure.
