Beach Rash

A 1985 SS I recently purchased has beach rash on the underside bow area. Nothing significant but enough to take the color out of the gel coat. There are a couple holes in the glass I am uncomfortable with and will fill. I was thinking of running a strip of fiberglass cloth over this are as an abundance of caution and sanding it smooth. Your thoughts and ideas are always appreciated. Pictures are coming!
