Edit, actually, I'm not 100% sure on this as the 200vrs model did change in 98 from the 95-97 platform.
You are right. The 200vrs is a different hull. There was maristar 205vrs in 1999 only that had the 205v hull.

I have a cousin who can. he has a 89 prostar and marine world does all his work. trust me they are a good dealer and I didn't even buy my boat from them!

a good friend of mine who lives in salt lake city, ut came to Tulsa to buy a friends Moomba xlv and on his way back blew the turbo in his F250 in Wichita. they offered to keep his boat there while his truck was fixed. they even put his boat inside storage.

Thanks. Sorry to have thread jacked a little there. I've just always wondered where the 200 hull derived from or evolved to and that it is no 205. But that should be somewhere else.

I got to looking a little closer at the boat and it looks like that year or maybe just that Maristar model does not come with the L seating, which is what I prefer. It is hard to tell from the pics provided though. I will see if the dealer has any shots posted.

I saw the dealer does have it listed for $22,999 and the pics all have the cover on them. If that boat was a few hours closer, I think I may consider that one. Thanks for looking out, ttu.

Are you dead set on this hull. Or just that price?

All the 1999's didnt have the wrap around seating. That was a change in 2000,

I am not dead set on anything. The price is nice, but I would ideally like to find a v-drive under $20k. Now is not the time of the year to be looking necessarily, but I am always on the lookout, so you just never know.

Rosterman, thanks for the info. Now I know what to look for. The only thing that concerns me about the 2000ish models is the upholstery.

Sounds like you are looking for exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a V drive that could do it all. Nice surf, decent wake and decent slalom. When I bought it I was more into wakeboarding but as of lately we have been surfing more and more. anyways, I found an entry level Maristar that was rated to be pretty good as far as those sports were concerned. Now I didn't have $20k flat in my pocket so I bought a 95 200 vrs. It was listed at $10k and I swindled a little and got a good deal. Another $10k later I have 100% new interior, 100% crazy kick *** stereo all JL just like the new ones, NDT tower with bimini, snap on cover, new rub rail, boards, balast and more change for more upgrades to come like chartplotter with GPS and radar, perfect pass, underwater lights, and eventually plumbed in ballast. I know I might barely break even after $20k+ after its all said and done. But my boat is paid for. Its all brand new except for the engine with just over 550 hours. Its just as nice as any of the new boats, and any other MC owner that see's it appreciates its quality.

So I would say just find a 95-00 maristar for around $10k and make it yours. Schedule all your work for during the week. I had all my work done by others coordinated around the weekends.

I plan to keep my boat for a long time though. So it made more sense to me to build it the way I wanted than to buy something for $20k that isn't 100% upgraded and new.
