Platform removal

I have an 87 prostar,I want to remove the teak platform to redo the striping and refinish the deck.Do the bracket bolts go all the way through the hull with nuts on the back side BEHIND the gas tank or do they bolt into the hull period.

I think the mounting area is below the floor. If so, there won't be any fasteners behind the tank. The older boats had lag screws but I think MC used machine bolts and inserts in the hull in your boat.

Budman,If all you want to do is refinish the teak deck.
just take it off the mounts and leave the mounts on the boat.
If you are going the sand it, it will be easier to do with the mounts off. My deck is held on the mounts by 5 or 6 screws of each side.
