MasterCraft Steering and other parts

So, I am looking at a 1993 S&S PS 190. The owner has had some complaints about the steering wandering. He has had it to a service marina a couple times to have them check it. From what I understand, the service center did not test drive(rather odd) and could not find anything wrong. However, they recommended the owner switch to a smaller prop 12x12. That I thought was very strange. The boat is a 1:1 and as you know comes stock with a 13x13. So, has anyone had any experience with something like this? If so, what was the correction? Also, are parts readily available for these older boats?? Thank you!

One of two thoughts from me; 1) rudder is in a neutral position (from shaving) or 2) it just needs a new steering cable. The later would be my internet guess. Smaller prop is not a factor in my opinion. The 13x13 is your best fit for the 93 PS190. Don't ask me how I know.

Plenty of parts available. Get a new cable anyway.

I ask; is the steering wandering or the boat drifting under operation? There's a difference. Still get a new cable. You'll need a 17' cable.

My opinion, this issue is not a show-stopper when buying a used boat of this nature. My 93 has served me very well.

There is actually one guy here that converted his entire steering to a rack-and-pinion setup. Just get a new cable and roll with it..

This V V V is how I know
