swim step is loose

1985 SS. Swim step is loose and the 2 upper bolts on both sides are stripped. Can these be reached by taking out the fuel tank or are they under the floor... again these are the upper bolts.
Thanks to all of you for any thoughts!

On my 83 you can't get to the bolts with the tank out. You have to cut the fiberglass too.

Platform Bracket Through Bolt

I just through bolted the top two on each platform bracket and used aluminum plates.
You will have to take the tank out. However, you do not have to cut the floor out. I drilled from the outside in and the holes are just above the floor. I will see if I can round up a picture or two…

whoever did the work before cut into the floor and did not replace it. I was going to foam in the area which is 3 x 4 inches and then glass it and resin tight. your thoughts?

I would definitely seal the hole, and that sounds like a good plan to me.
