Of those 2 choices the Polks all the way. That particular JL speaker is not designed for longevity in a marine environment.

One thing to watch out for on the mm651 is that they are only rated at 2.7 ohms. This makes them harder to pair up with amps as in most cases ever speaker will need its own channel on an amp. So running a sub and 4 interiors off one 4 channel amp will now require either a 5 channel or a 4 channel for the 4 interiors and a mono for the sub in most cases. If u jump up to the MM 651 UM that no longer becomes an issue. However if u jump to the UM price range you mine as well toss in the JL MX 650 .

The JL Audio C2 6.5" sounds vitually identical to the JL Audio MX650 which is a dedicated marine speaker in every respect.

I have changed my mind on speakers slightly but am still looking for some advice. I am still looking at the Polk AA2651 but I am not debating between those and the Polk DB6501. If I went with the DB6501 would it be dumb to go with 2 sets or one set of those and one set of the AA2651?
