Unhappy 1991 pro star wont turn off.

My alternator went out last weekend so i bought one from db electronics that someone in a prior post said worked great. I hooked up the bat wire and i am lost to where the purple wire goes on the new starter. I hooked up the purple wire with the bat wire and the boat fires right up my only problem is when i turn the key back nothing happens the boat keeps running. After following the purple wire it goes to the wiring harness turns yellow/red and continues to the ignition switch so im pretty sure this is my problem. Just not sure what to do.

It sounds like you have a single wire alternator that doesn't need the exciter wire, just a battery connection. Try leaving the purple wire off altogether and test if the alternator is still charging. Might be problem solved. The purple wire is feeding current back to your ignition switch. Have fun.
