Best MC for wakeboarding, surfing and barefoot?

My friend may be in the market for a late-model V-drive. He does not slalom ski at all, but likes to barefoot, wakeboard and surf. Needs a boat bigger than an X-1, so what would you suggest?

My first thoughts are an X-2 or X-25, I assume you can barefoot behind either one (might require the 6.0 liter? An X14V is another option for footing, but how is the surf wake and wakeboard wake?

You or on the most polar opposites possible. No MC currently made has a good BF wake. Barefoot boats dont surf and board, plain and simple. I would take runs behind my xstar more for a bit of a freak show than anything else. You will make sacrifices somewhere.

a x14v will probably be the best choice.

IMO I would disagree. My 197 is a great barefoot boat & if you ballast it right it is a pretty damn good wakeboard & surf boat. I would think a X14 would be pretty good to, but I've never been behind a v drive...

Amen to that you can get maybe a decent slalom/wakeboard but you won't get a good surf wake.

Green, I will respectfully disagree. First off let me share my MC history as to give my statements some credibility. I have owned a 85 SS, 92 BF200, 96 190, 03x2,06x2,07x2 and an 08 x-star. I have promo driven countless x25's,197's x15's and x45's. I currently own a 11 Sanger DXII with the LY6. Barefooting was my priority. The 197's and 14's have hard, choppy wakes that make crossings or barefoot slalom next to impossible and the speeds they can attain will NOT make the footers, especially the bigger guys doing back slaloms happy. Now if you want to get up go straight in the trick curl and be a hero to your 5 year old, well a Sea Ray can do that. I was serious about it and trust me no current MC has a good BF wake and trust me they don't care and never will. We are to few. I have also tried to demo a x14v to a guy that wanted to surf and slalom and trust me again, the surf wake sucks. Its small and not very pushy and the amount of weight it would take to change that would sink it and or be such a pain filling multiple bags you'd never do it. I should also say i owned my 200 along with my star because major sacrifices were not something I wanted to do. You cant haul manure with a vette and you cant go 175 in your f250. Sorry thats just the reality END OF STORY!

Perhaps a new X-10 would be a decent choice? Surf and wakeboard would be great, barefoot might be "acceptable"?

Thanks for the replies so far. I pretty much knew there are no great MC barefoot boats any more, and my friend has access to other barefoot boats on his lake so I will suggest he focus on a good wakeboard/surf boat. A good late model X25 should fit the bill.

Guess I must of struck a nerve... Sorry I'm not a hard core footer like you must be. All I am saying is I am 6'4" 265lbs, can barefoot pretty damn good behind my 197, and slalom, and wakeboard, oh and surf behind it. Now we may not be competition level like you, but we have a good time and it works for us. I've seen a lot of stupid people driving Corvettes, I am sure someone has hauled manure with one and my F250 may not do 175, but it will do 125!!
