Add-on Bluetooth

My '01 X9 has a CMD1 Clarion headunit, coupla amps, some ok tower speakers.

The stereo is fine for my purposes, just wish I had a way to use iphones via bluetooth.
I did the home-built method to add an auxiliary input to the CMD1.

What I am looking for is a device that will use bluetooth to connect to my iphone, and connect to the headunit using the auxiliary inputs.

I don't really want to install a new headunit, but I may consider it if what I am looking to do is a little heavy on the turd polish.

Here's one:

http://www.amazon.com/BlueGate-Bluet...tooth+receiver

If you don't like that one, just search Amazon for "Bluetooth receiver". There will be an entire list. Some you'd have to add a power inverter... others charge via USB. Check out some reviews and take your pick!

I have one of these hooked up to my AUX in on my alpine stereo.

Works great, since it either has the ability to hook up through the antenna or RCA outputs as well.

It automatically reconnects if you hook it to ignition. I hooked it on constant so it doesnt lose connection each time you cycle the key.

Only audio streaming for my iphone, no handsfree capability.

I've been using one of these in the boat for the last year. I also have one in the truck. They work great.

Looks great. Would the audio quality be less with bluetooth? I'd love to know, as it is always a PITA to be on a leash with the stereo we have.

Thanks!

Technically yes the quality will be lower than a wire, but the casual listener probably would never know unless you had horrible quality mp3's, and then everything sounds bad. I'm sure Earmark marine could give you a better explanation there.

I play music from my phone, and I can't tell the difference between the audio quality over bluetooth and with a wirex aux cable connection.

Try playing some Clapton or acoustic song you like at a moderate clear volume. See if you can notice subtle differences in the quality of the sound at the same volume between the two types of sources of audio(wired vs BT ). Note that poor cables can have a difference too.
