Lovin my hydrofoil....what a blast!

Wow....you guys are right....got my B39 yesterday, put it together, and away we went today....my 17 yo son was 1st up....he got up 1st try, flew immediately, and never looked back...within about 15 minutes, he was crossing both wakes and riding in the 'flying' position....damn kids.....

His friend was next...he was able to taxi after a few tries..and able to do short flights...

then it was my turn, it took a few tries, but I was able to get up and taxi and ride a fairly long distance...tried flying and ended up 'porposing' pretty bad....

We found 'Skydog' and his wife from the TnFlyin...he was able to help us shim the rear of the rear foil....then my son was jumping behind the boat and out in the flats, his friend and I were able to cross the wakes and begin to fly up and down....and the sun went down so we had to stop....

I have polished this baby and tightened the bolts....looking forward to tomorrow...I might not need that wakeboard stuff any more after all....

Glad to hear you had a good day on the water. Be sure to snap some pics and post them in the thread too.

Sounds like you're hooked! I got one almost 2 years ago and ours still provides as much fun as it did when we got it. Once you get comfortable flying, you'll find more and more that you can do. I finally have the jumps down and can avoid the painful faceplants......that makes it lots more fun! A coupe I ski with came up with a competition that we run. The goal is to cross the wake as many times as possible without letting the board touch the water. We've had fun with that and I think it is good for learning to control altitude, speed and slack rope.

As you said, it can be frustrating to see how fast some catch on. I've found kids seem to be able to catch on very quickly. Those of us who have been skiing for a long time seem to have the ski habits engrained deeply and many of those habits work against the priciples that make the foil fly. It will take a little while but you will progress and you'll have a great time doing it!

Having Skydog representing the foil riders is like having Larry, Moe & Curly represent 3 event skiing!

Seriously, Sandy & the dog are super nice people. I warn ya Rick, if you keep it up, your gonna be hooked. Hanging around the more experienced riders will ensure a less painfull learning curve for you & your son!

Well....it's been several months. I am jumping this baby and riding her all day. Of course, my son is already throwing gainers...with his left hand in a cast for a broken thumb, I might add....we are heading to the TnFlyIn this weekend. Maybe I can discover the inverted world...I love this thing. I haven't put a ski or wakeboard on all year!

of course...my jumps are a little tame compared to this...I guess height and 'big air' is relative...
