Boat new to me

I just bought an 03 X10 with 362 hrs. The boat is in great condition ANSI really like it so far. I have a question about the performance. I had a 2000 sky supreme V210 with a TBI 5.7. It was only 270 hp but was about 600 lbs lighter. The X10 had the MCX which I thought would have a lot of power but I am a bit disappointed. My old supreme was way quicker accelerating a would run 48mph. The X10 takes about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle to get onto plane. I guess it s the difference in weight and hull design? It runs 45mph at 5200 rpm. Is this normal or is mine running poor?

Glad you're liking the new MC.
HP tells only part of the tale when it comes to speed and acceleration for a boat. Prop (as has been mentioned), weight, and hull characteristics (shape and wetted surface) are all factors. All things being equal, HP for HP, the older boats will typically go a bit faster and have more hole shot. But that's why they're great ski boats and not so great wakeboard/surfboard boats.

I had an '03 230VRS (same as X30) with the MCX and with the stock prop it had a very poor holeshot. As others have stated, prop means a lot. What do you have?
Most likely if you switch to an OJ 14.75 X 15.5 you will gain lots of holeshot without hurting top speed. Make sure your engine is tuned-up also. Iridium spark plugs may help too.

I understand that I did not buy the boat for speed just wondering if mine was running ok. Just did plugs and fuel injection cleaner. Motor runs very smooth - I think the tuned port motors have more upper rpm power and less low end. I will see what prop is on it. Has anyone run the new OJ 5 blade on a boat similar to mine?
