Wrap it with saran wrap before you get it on the road, takes only a few minuts and keeps it clean of bugs and debris. just be careful with cutting it off... if you do it thin, you can take it off by hand...

Did you try removing the canvas of the bimini and leaving the structure up. It would not catch near as much wind. I think you can take the canvas off but not sure.
