1999 SportStar graphics

I need new decals/graphics for '99 SportStar. Dealer directed me to a shop that does graphics for Indy Cars. Anyone have other ideas? Surely the template is available somewhere?

I personally didnt like the OEM decals, so i put on 2006 chrome domed decals and i love. Definitely not the OEM look though, if your goal is to keep it original.

I also didn't like the orginal graphics package on the SportStar with the MasterCraft towards the stern, so I put later model decals on my 99. I found those graphics on eBay, but BAWS is also a good source.

WOW! Looks so good, so much better than OEM in my opinion. Dealer was telling me you would be able to see where the old decals were even after you buffed it out. What was your result? I can't tell from picture.

My boat was originally from SC and FL, so it has seen a fair amount of sun before coming to VT in 04. If you looked closely you could see the shadow from where the old name had been. I never wet sanded it but I am sure that would have helped some.

I used 3m rubbing compound and a buffer. You cant tell that the original decals were back further after a polish. However, after being on for several years and a little fading, the old shadow appeared around where the original decals were. I buffed again with 3m compound and its gone again. Here is a current pick after this springs polish / waxing.

That is one beautiful MC! It's the exact color as mine but I'm embarrassed my blue is totally faded and chalked. Is the MC decal raised or is it flat just like the original was? How difficult is it to apply the decal? I think it looks SO much better in the center of the boat vs. the rear! I've found the decals on ebay so I think I'm going to go for it! I feel confident that I can polish out the rear so you won't be able to tell where the previous decals were. Thanks!

The decals are the domed drip molded type (raised). They were not bad at all to apply. The decal sets came all spaced and backed. At the time, i purchased the 2 MASTERCRAFT decals for the sides, the2 PROSTAR 190 decals on the side, and the MASTERCRAFT RECORD TOWBOAT on the back from my dealer for a total of about $280 in 2006. I also put on matching drip molded registration numbers for the front. It just took a lot of patience and a keen eye ball; as you cant just measure and mark as the surface is rounded and difficult to get a precise measurement. Like I said, i used 3m rubbing compound with a rotary buffer. Rotarys take some practice, but at least fiberglass is much more forgiving then auto paint.
