Awesome thread.

My grandfather did pre-flight on the Enola Gay and also did not talk much about his service until late in life.

Greatest generation is a gross understatement.

My dad turns 86 this Friday and is in great shape. He too lied about his age to join the Navy. He was at Bikini/Marshall Islands as head of task force one for Able and Baker bomb tests. He has cool stories and great photos.

great thread! it is heart warming to see so many stories of military service and the selflessness most of these heroes exhibited. I would like to mention my wife's grandmother who served as a Marine in WWII, now at 93 is still a inspiration.
