What's this x2 worth?

Hey guys,

Need some input on a 2006 Mastercraft X2, yellow/white.

It has 210 hours on the RTP-1, but was left outside by the previous owner's son, for a while, and the vinyl on the inside is in bad shape.

The rest of the hull looks to be in great shape.

Has cruise, triple ballast, Bimini, tower speakers, tower, tower racks, all the usual x2 accessories. He had put it on ebay a while back with a buy it now for $35k, but no one bought.

It would basically require the entire replacement of the vinyl. I am ok with a project boat, but I am having trouble figuring what it is worth.

Thanks for the input guys!

If it runs and the only problem is the vinyl, I would say $32-35K.

I just bought a 2006 with 350 hours in great shape for $38K. It does have the MCX and didn't need much done to it.

Where is the boat located?

Thanks for the input.

The vinyl isn't the only thing. The rest of the hull seems a bit sunfaded, as is a lot of the interior because it sat in the sun. Most of the interior is dirty as well.

Would require some definite TLC on the hull, with a polisher and cutting compound.

Also, if the boat wasn't taken care of, there is the inherent risk of the rest of the boat. Who knows how well the engine and mechanical were taken care of?

I saw that one on eBay. Probably a decent boat, but the small engine is killing its value. Have you actually seen the boat in person? Did you take a ride with the RTP?

No problem.

Just to add a little more, I would say a good deal would be around $37-39K in good condition. So I'd start there and then deduct for whatever you have to put into it, vinyl, exterior work, engine tune up and maintenance, etc.

You are right, any used boat that wasn't cared for is going to end up having some other issues as well. Definitely need to take it for a test drive and check it out carefully.

No, I didn't see it in person because the guy was in Alabama. Sounds like its sold anyway.

I called our local upholestry place and they said about 4.5k for all new vinyl. The rest I could do.

I've never been in a rtp boat but my current boat has a 320 hp indmar and its been fine. Besides only inboards and boat trader anywhere else special mc boats are listed?

Reach out to some of the larger MC dealers, tell them to keep an eye out for what you want. That's how I found my Maristar 230 back in '05.

Bay Area Watersports, Redline, Texas Mastercraft, MC of Charlotte just to name a few.

lord, this has been brought up so many times. very little difference in torque. do a search and you will find the torque curves and so forth. yes it may hurt resale a tad but not that much.

boat looks rode hard and put away wet! I would almost guess not having perfect pass would hurt the resale more.

and yes I will defend my 07 x2 with the rtp. I have the wake prop and run stock ballast along with a additional 1200 lbs and get on plane fine. with that said I love the "pretty" looks of the mcx.

Same here. 07 X2 with RTP. No issues at all. More MCX FUD. Most people would never be able to tell the difference on that boat as the additional HP is developed at the top of the RPM range. How many speed runs are you going to do with an X2? It's pretty much a school bus when compared to a ProStar.

2010 Mastercraft X2

I'm in the same boat I have a 2010 X2 with the RTP and it's perfect. It's never been underpowered as far as I'm concerned. I've been loaded down with people, ballast and always able to plane out with no problems. It also loves gas and I couldn't imagine how much gas another motor would be using.

I was thinking the same thing when i was looking. i found one very similar to mine with an MCX about 300 miles from home, but the head mechanic at Mastercraft said he would just as well have the RTP as the MCX in an X2, so I bought the one closer to me and glad I did it.
