East of Gary there is a Quaker Steak and Lube and a Bass Pro Shops along I-94 towards Michigan CIty, may be a bit of a drive but a good place to get wings and watch sports and Bass Pro is a good place to dream about spring. There are also a few "gentlemens clubs" in the area seeing that I-80 and I-94 are a major throughfare for semis.

Why all the hating on Chicago's arm pit?
Never mind, I have nothing to recommend that isn't at least an hour drive. Next time stay in Chicago, too many good places there to list.

Culver's at Rt 30 and I-65...
Stay away... from Gary... there's a Cabela's 25 minutes west... ... head down to Crownpoint and see where Johnny Depp filmed Public Enemy...

Three Floyds Brewing in Munster has great beer and great food, take the Calumet Ave exit off of 80/94 and go south, maybe 10-15 minutes down on the west side of the road.
Another good spot is in Valpo called the Industrial Revolution, on Rt 30 (Head towards Valpo and you won't miss it). There's also a Tilted Kilt in Merrillville on 30. There's pretty much a little bit of everything in the Rt30/I65 corridor. I live in the region, work in Merrillville. My tip would be to stay south of 80/94 as much as you can. |
